What you need to know before getting a tattoo
Medical
Can I get a tattoo while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No, the ink can enter your bloodstream and affect the baby. In addition, insufficient research has been done into the effects of tattooing on pregnant women. For this reason we do not tattoo people when they are pregnant and/or breastfeeding.
Can I get a tattoo while taking antibiotics?
You cannot get a tattoo during a course of antibiotics. The ink is a foreign substance, and there is a possibility that the antibiotics will attack the ink.
I suffer from eczema, can I get a tattoo?
If the tattoo is far from the active eczema area, it can in some cases. Otherwise, we do not recommend getting a tattoo in that area.
I am taking medication, will this affect my tattoo?
In many cases yes. Therefore, always consult your treating doctor, and also inform your artist in advance. When in doubt, the artist will decide not to tattoo you.
Does alcohol/drug use affect my tattoo?
Yes, of course. We ask everyone to come to the appointment sober. If someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they will not be tattooed. We also advise against using alcohol/drugs in the first few days after getting the tattoo.
Why do you not tattoo the first tattoo on my ribs?
A tattoo on the ribs entails risks. It is the most painful place to get a tattoo. Often clients cannot relax and lie still because they experience pain and/or have difficulty accepting the feeling. The pain can also affect breathing. This can already affect the quality of the tattoo. We would like to provide everyone with beautiful work that we can be proud of ourselves. We think it is too great a risk to tattoo 'virgins' on the ribs.
Appointment
What is the minimum age to get a tattoo with you?
At Femme Tattoo Studio we tattoo from the age of 17 with the permission of a guardian. This is not the legal minimum age, but what we use in our shop.
How do I book an appointment with you?
You can make an appointment via the application form on our website. Think carefully about what kind of tattoo(s) you want before you make an appointment. Consider style, size and placement on the body.
How long is your waiting time?
Our waiting time is based on what kind of design you want and by which artist you want to be tattooed. For Friday and Saturday, assume a minimum of 2 months. However, cancellations can cause 'last spots' to become available. These can then be found in our stories on Instagram and often apply to the day after.
I have paid a 10 euro reservation fee, will this be settled during my appointment?
No, this is really meant for booking your appointment and the time that goes into preparing your design. This is therefore not a down payment and is therefore not deducted from your tattoo.
Can I get multiple tattoos in 1 appointment?
Yes, of course. But please indicate this properly with your application form so that we can take the time into account.
I would like a tattoo of a bouquet with 6 different (birth) flowers, is this possible?
No. We use a maximum of 4 birth flowers. These tattoos are not included in the deal and are therefore not possible in any case within a size of 5x5 cm.
Can I share the deal with my sister and mother?
Yes, of course! If all 3 of you come for a fine line tattoo within 5x5 cm, you can share the deal.
I want to change/adjust my design, is this possible?
You can adjust your design once after making the appointment. At least 1 week before the appointment. If you want to report changes after this, costs will be charged. So make sure you are sure of your chosen design before you schedule an appointment.
I'm still unsure about the location of my new tattoo, is there room to stick the stencil in several places before I decide?
Yes, try to think of different places. It can always happen that the design you have chosen does not fit nicely on the body part you have in mind.
Can I have my design sent to me before the appointment?
No Unfortunately not. State your wishes as clearly as possible when completing your application form. During your appointment you will see the design, there is still room for any minor adjustments. Making these adjustments may take additional time off your appointment.
Can I bring children to my appointment?
Rather not, do not bring children under the age of 15 to your appointment, due to the concentration of the artists and the hygiene in the shop. A tattoo shop is not a suitable environment for children.
Can I bring people to my appointment?
Yes, you can bring a maximum of one person to your appointment. If you already come together, you don't bring an extra person.
I am late for my appointment, what should I do?
If you expect to be late, please contact our planner as soon as possible via Whatsapp or call. If you arrive 15 minutes late, we cannot guarantee that you can still be tattooed.
Other
I want to have my tattoo fixed up, it was not done by you, is this possible with you?
Unfortunately not in most cases. Most tattoos are thick and dark, which are difficult to fix with fine line. We can update a line that has disappeared!
I want to have a tattoo 'covered', is that possible with you?
Covering a tattoo with fine line is almost impossible. A previously seated tattoo often consists of too thick lines, which we cannot camouflage with our style.
What does a touch-up cost?
A touch up is €10.00. However, this price may differ for larger tattoos.
Do you also tattoo on fingers?
Yes, on the top of the fingers, not on the sides. This also applies to the side of the hand and the bottom of the foot. Keep in mind that not every design is possible on the fingers and that these tattoos fade faster / more intensely. As a result, you may have to come back more often for a touch up.
Do you put tattoos on the inside of the lip?
No, at Femme Tattoo Studio we do not tattoo on the inside of the lip.
Do you also do coloured tattoos?
We only work with black, greywash, white and red ink.
Do you put personally written texts?
Yes, of course! If you want to know how we do this, take a look at our Instagram page.
Can I get a tattoo with the ashes of a deceased loved one?
No, unfortunately we no longer do this. From now on this is no longer allowed.
What you need to know after getting your tattoo
Can I swim and go to the sauna?
We do not recommend swimming or going to the sauna for 4 to 6 weeks after getting a tattoo.
Can I just shower with second skin?
This is certainly possible. Only avoid prolonged water contact with the spot where the tattoo has just been applied.
How do I remove my second skin?
In general, the second skin will peel off after a few days. Otherwise you could stand in the shower and with hot water you soak a little piece every time. Don't pull your second skin off like a plaster in 1x. This prevents you from pulling the skin and your tattoo with ink.
My tattoo is bleeding under my second skin, now what?
Don't stress, this is completely normal. This is because wound fluid comes out of your tattoo, which sometimes takes a little ink with it. Because of the second skin, it remains underneath and looks dirty and smeared. However, it is advisable not to touch them to prevent infections.
My second skin comes off quickly, is this bad?
This is not a problem, then you can start the aftercare sooner. The best way to do this is described on our website under the heading aftercare.
When can I exercise again with my new tattoo?
You can definitely start working out if you just got tattooed. With us you get a second skin and as long as this is on it provides sufficient protection. Rather not use the body part that has just been tattooed with sports.
How should I care for my new tattoo?
The best way to care for a new tattoo is described under the heading aftercare on our website.
When can I come back for a touch up?
We recommend giving a tattoo 4 weeks to heal. After 2 weeks, your skin will create a new skin layer (which often gives a white blur). So don't be alarmed, that's normal. Most tattoos are largely healed after 4 weeks. Contact us after 4 weeks to see if a touch-up is necessary. Do you have doubts about this? Please enclose one photo with your application.
